چکیده
Pleiotrophin (PTN) is a cytokine which has been for long studied at the level of central nervous system, however few studies focus on its role in peripheral organs. The main aim this review to summarize state art what known up date about pleiotrophin and implications metabolic In summary, promotes proliferation preadipocytes, pancreatic β cells, as well cells during mammary gland development. Moreover, important structural integrity liver neuromuscular junction skeletal muscle. From point view, plays key maintenance glucose lipid whole-body insulin homeostasis favors oxidative metabolism All all, proposes druggable target prevent from development insulin-resistance-related pathologies.

متن کاملAdipose Tissue Remodeling: Its Role in Energy Metabolism and Metabolic Disorders
The adipose tissue is a central metabolic organ in the regulation of whole-body energy homeostasis. The white adipose tissue functions as a key energy reservoir for other organs, whereas the brown adipose tissue accumulates lipids for cold-induced adaptive thermogenesis. Adipose tissues secrete various hormones, cytokines, and metabolites (termed as adipokines) that control systemic energy bala...
متن کاملInsights into Penicillium brasilianum Secondary Metabolism and Its Biotechnological Potential.
Over the past few years Penicillium brasilianum has been isolated from many different environmental sources as soil isolates, plant endophytes and onion pathogen. All investigated strains share a great ability to produce bioactive secondary metabolites. Different authors have investigated this great capability and here we summarize the metabolic potential and the biological activities related t...
متن کاملInsights into role of microRNAs in cardiac development, cardiac diseases, and developing novel therapies
Objective(s): MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a subfamily of small noncoding RNAs that play a variety of roles in regulating gene expression in nearly all organisms. They affect different biological pathways by post-transcriptionally regulating mRNAs. Aside from miRNAs’ role in maintaining cellular homeostasis, their perturbation is related to several pathologic states and dis...
متن کاملPulmonary metabolism of foreign compounds: its role in metabolic activation.
The lung has the potential of metabolizing many foreign chemicals to a vast array of metabolites with different pharmacological and toxicological properties. Because many chemicals require metabolic activation in order to exert their toxicity, the cellular distribution of the drug-metabolizing enzymes in a heterogeneous tissue, such as the lung, and the balance of metabolic activation and deact...
